World Water Day
March 22nd is the world water day. One of the cooperation initiatives of Monkole that goes unnoticed is to provide water to thousands of people in the neighborhood.
This initiative will greatly facilitate the lives of women and girls, who are in charge of this task and it as well has prevented many diseases in the community.
Hundreds of people come to fill their jerry cans of 25 litres. The water well is 150 m depth is abundant and of excellent quality. The water is obtained by two pumps that work continuously, which on average must be renewed every two years. For the sustainability of the project 4 francs congolese are paid per litre. That is to say 450 litres equals one euro. The alternative is to buy from others that sell it much more expensive or go to a stream several km away
