Monkole
Why in Monkole?
The Hospital Monkole is located in Mont-Ngafula, located in a semi-urban area, approximately 220.000 inhabitants with a low income, to the South-West of Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with 12 million inhabitants.
The D. R. of the Congo, with its 74 million people (half under 15 years of age), ranks 176 (out of 188) in the Human Development Index by 2016 with a per capita GDP of 348$ per year.
Monkole was the first hospital in the Congo that began to feed their sick patitents, give them sheets, towels, etc… (before it was up to ther families) years passed by and we struggle trying to make affordable to the entire population a quality health care, because, in the absence of Social Security, each one has to pay for their medical treatment: if a person does not have money and have, for example, an appendicitis, hospitals do not operate, except from Monkole.
